Same reason a lot of teams wouldn't travel to Ole Miss or Mississippi State.
Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss and State all played a lot of games in the big cities (Jackson and Birmingham) until the 70's (Alabama until 2000).

Ole Miss and MSU didn't play in Jackson bc teams wouldn't travel to them
Just like Arkansas didn't play in Little Rock for that reason
