But Richt was always stuck at least having to play an SECC against Bama or LSU from 2011. That in and of itself is like a title game. I don't understand the TAMU collapse this year. It was really odd to see.

In the sense that he has us seemingly right on the doorstep every year, great regular seasons and puts a good number of players in the draft it's a pretty good comparison. The postseasons of football and baseball are so different it's hard to compare.

They aren't LSU and Bama but mid 2000s Rice and TCU right now are pretty top notch programs. He's been bounced by Oregon State, Miami, and Texas as well in regional finals and South Carolina in the CWS.

It always seems like the weakness or deficiency with that year's squad shows up in spades when it matters most in the postseason. I have no idea if that's coaching or just bad luck

Baseball IMO is much tougher to see coaching mistakes. Sure leaving a pitcher in, or pulling one too early, not bunting in a certain situation etc are obvious. But for the most part baseball has a lot of luck to it. It's easy to see coaching deficiencies in football.
