NOLA is a Saints town first, LSU second. And don't forget Tulane.

I grew up in New Orleans, the Tigers there ain't what they are in Lake Charles or north shore even.

you can't be serious. first off, pro sports teams and college sports teams are different things. NOLA is as pro LSU of a town as there is in the state

Not true. While they will still follow the sporting events at LSU, they will first spend their money on the pro sport and the pro sport will be "their team". Of course you will have some that closely follow both and some that will only follow college sports instead of the pro team, but as a general rule, college sports is less popular in towns that have the equivalent pro sports team.
