Carrollton, Ga is not south of Atlanta but is about 40 miles west, which allows for an easy drive into Atlanta, but is still fairly laid back for a thriving college town (University of West Georgia).

We visited Carollton once for a half day-just kinda rode around taking in the town and had lunch on the square there. Pretty cool little place.
Also been thinking about Peachtree City-seems to be a pretty sweet locale for the folks who live there.
Hadn't considered Gainesville, but that would be pretty close to some family and the job market has got to be good, along with hopefully the fishing.
