Using your two time frames the West won the conference 61% of the time pre expansion vs 73% of the time in the past 15 years. Significant gap.

Significant gap? I see the West dominating both time periods from those stats, which is my entire point! The Western half of the SEC footprint has ALWAYS been stronger than the East. It was prior to expansion in 1992, and its been that way under divisional play as well... especially the past 15 years.

Florida's dominance of the 1990s masked the imbalance for about a decade. But there is no "cycle" about this at all. The West is simply the stronger division. I think if the conference has the ability to even things up, it should do so.

But again, moving Auburn to the East wouldn't even things up. It would just take a downturn for Bama or LSU for the East to start dominating.

It's 13-11. 3 Big 6 teams on each side. About as even as you are going to get while still being somewhat geographically sensical.

If things are to even out it will take UT, UGA and UF playing to their capabilities or a downturn for a couple West powers. Cyclical

Sankey shut it down anyway, thankfully.
