You totally just stole my thunder.
That's okay though, you're an LSU fan. Can't expect much more.

So what does the coach mean in the text exchange about the request being more than agreed to or the amounts keep changing? What was the agreement, what amounts were agreed to? Tunsil apparently thought there was some reason he could expect money for his mother's bills. Whether Tumsil cooperates or not, somebody better have a good explanation. The coach who replied to Tunsil has to cooperate. If he lies, he is taking a huge risk. It may not matter that no money was paid for this request. The implication is that this kind of request had happened before. If there is a simple, plausible answer, why would Ole Miss want to drag this bad PR situation out through the fall football season? That can't be good for recruiting nor the school's image.
I certainly don't know the answers, but I will be interested to see. Having lied to the press already, explanations from the athletic department are likely to be met with much skepticism until the NCAA hands down its findings.

Maybe we should have a teamvote instead.

UA got busted for Antonio Langham signing a napkin for an agent in the celebratory aftermath of the national title game vs Miami. It's totally arbitrary.

The undeniable proof is that the school self-imposed fairly serious sanctions. Any school would low ball some, so we know OM objectively believes the punishment should be a little harsher than what they offered. Add it all up and it seems like OM thinks the violations are more serious than swaggy thinks.

Why do folks keep on saying "the texts are explainable"?
Posted on 5/30/16 at 9:17 pm to We_R_The_Tide
People keep bringing up the fact that Tunsil himself is home free, and, yes, technically he is. But OM fans should want him to willingly talk to the NCAA. Without him, they just grill the coach and if they're not satisfied, Tunsil's reticence won't do a damned thing to prevent them from bringing down the hammer. It might even hurt worse. What OM fans should be wanting is for Tunsil to give the NCAA a first-person account of what the texts meant (whether its a lie or not) to corroborate whatever explanation the coach offers up. Without that, they are free to assume Tunsil is keeping quiet because he has no reasonable explanation and doesn't want to implicate OM. The NCAA isn't restricted by the normal legal system. They aren't going to just go, "Oh well, he took the 5th. We have to find other ways to make our case."
If Tunsil (or, more likely, his handlers) can come up with a semi-believable explanation, the best thing for all parties involved is for him to personally offer it to the investigators. His stepdad is already acting as a witness, as I understand it. That just puts more of an onus on OM to get their own witnesses, and Tunsil is pretty much the best possibility they have.

You're right about Tunsil talking, and I'm sure he's been offered a hefty sum of cash for his lie

No need in interviewing Tunsil. He is on public record. The text will need to be explained. In the explanation, UM will have to explain the agreement, the increased amounts given, and explain why this agreement was NOT told to the investigators.

I suppose it is because they also said the texts weren't real, there were no serious issues with the current regime, the NCAA was already aware, etc. I think it perhaps is more of a hope than reality at this point, since no one has provided one.
