The NFL could easily go with modified MLB draft rules.

Just instead of allowing them out of high school, start with the three years in college. NFL teams will do their homework and figure out who wants to go pro and who doesn't.. and assign grades accordingly.

Realistically they should back a couple of the smaller football leagues and turn them into developmental/farm leagues and extend the draft out to say 12 rounds. There are already a ton of undrafted free agents.. so there's demand past the 7th round.

I agree with this argument. MLB has several development leagues and the NFL would need them too. I would say that if they go this route, allow the kids to go after high school and get in to the farm leagues, even if they are required to do so for a year. This hurts college football as top end talent but the overall product would be as good.

As far as undrafted players returning to school, I have no issues if they don't sign with an agent and/or take any money but that requires more oversight. Once you sign with an agent you can't play college ball anymore, period.
