It wasn't in the contract, it was more an rigidly enforced gentleman's agreement from the beginning:

The only thing contractually stipulated is not more than six appearances. That continued after 2009:

In 2009, A&M was the only school that didn't appear on ABC. It appeared on FSN twice.

That says absolutely nothing about a game exclusive to ABC.
