That's the best thing they can do right now. Did you really expect a response so quickly? That's what got Tunsil in trouble in the first place. The biggest mistake made last night IMO was allowing Tunsil to speak to the media at all last night after all this came out.

They should have shut up last night, but they didn't. Now they should come out and say something. It won't go away and you're getting beat up on every media outlet imaginable. It was on Good Morning America.

The fact that they're being this calculated in their next step is telling as to how fricked they are, IMO. That was really the point of the OP as well.

They are in critical crisis mode. I can't even imagine what has been going on behind the scenes the last 20 hours. LT has likely told them to pound sand if they have pleaded with him to make a statement recanting anything. His attorney probably has him on lock down about opening his mouth to anyone moving forward. The best that OM can ask for is that LT agrees to go silent from now on.

Freeze and just about anyone involved, especially the two men in the IG, are in non stop meetings with the University President, the AD and a ton of advisors. These are not merely accusations that you confront with a canned statement. These are accusations with proof. This is about as bad as it can get and something unprecedented. Right now, the powers that be are just trying to determine the best course for the University. Clean house really soon and beg for mercy? Double down and continue the Mis-direction?

What a mess.
