It's not like their Big 12 standards were any better. How many times did JuCo kids end up in the Big 12 because they were ineligible under SEC minimum requirements?

Academic standards were really high in the Big 12 among the AAU schools: Texas A&M, Texas, Colorado, MIZZOU, ISU, Kansas, and Nebraska (until 2011) and none of them are as good as you would expect them to be in football.

OU, OSU, KSU, Baylor, and Texas Tech to some extent all owe their success in football to being able to take on the more "questionable" academic performers out of high school. KSU and Baylor have specifically targeted JUCO kids via specialized programs that gain them acceptance. I have not followed TCU or WVU's programs, but I don't believe they are top tier academic institutions.
