The answer appears obvious, and Saban laid out breadcrumbs too about "multiple" suspensions. He's in hot water with Saban and got himself sent home from the Bowl. But, he's back with the team subject to making peace with team rules (suspension, steps, whatever). If it was a possible NCAA violation for amateurism, he wouldn't be on the team this spring. However, when anyone fails the arbitrary NCAA drug screen, but hasn't run afoul the school rules (1st tests no suspension at most schools, fixed suspensions after that are kept quiet and are commonplace these days) you usually see them stick around AND the school appeals their violations (see Will Grier).

Not sure if he'll get a 1 year ban, way less, or nothing, but Bama is sticking behind him for now and, has their own punishment for him whether the violations are the same or not, and await the final NCAA ban. Even at 1 year, I'd expect to see him stay unless he wants to drop down a division. A suspension year can't be a redshirt year right? So he can't just transfer to say Oklahoma and play after an NCAA penalty.
