4th and 25 provided one of the best gif of the season.

Agreed by the time I'm in my 60s it will be told Uncle Rico style.

OK, obviously trolling, but sure why not.
Maybe it is an age thing and a time and place thing, but Eli being stepped on hurts WAY worse to me. Here is why:
1. It was to freaking LSU, a somewhat rival.
2. We were the first team (*edit* from the West) EVER to go 7-1 and not go to Atlanta, that made it sting a little worse (still, we have a banner so....).
3. That was Eli's senior year and frankly we though he was our savior. The future seemed uncertain despite our hopes.
4. Our award winning kicker missed at least two field goals that night making us feel even more cheated by fate.
5. I was there in person with my damn LSU friend. We had to drive all the way back to Texas after the game. Pure torture. 4th and 25 I was at home.....drunk.
5. 4th and 25 was horrible, and it deserves it's place in history, BUT....we do not feel like that was our only chance. We still feel like we are building for the future. In short, we do not think we are going anywhere and we will continue to play for the West. Only history will tell, but that is why Eli hurts worse that 4th and 25.

That team was the biggest collection of thugs outside the 1996 FSU Seminoles I've ever seen. They finally got exposed for the mediocre squad they really were that year in New Orleans.

false.
Auburn was 8-0 in 1993 but were on probation. Tennessee was also 6-1-1 that year and didn't qualify, so yeah not quite the same.
Auburn was 6-1-1 in 1994 and didn't qualify over 8-0 Alabama, so same situation as Tennessee in 93.
Tennessee was 7-1 in 1995 and didn't go over 8-0 Florida
Tennessee was 7-1 in 1996 and didn't go over 8-0 Florida
Florida was 7-1 in 1998 and didn't go over 8-0 Tennessee
So really, Ole Miss was the first SEC West team eligible for the SECCG to go 7-1 and not make it to the SECCG

That is actually exactly what I meant. We were the first West team. My mistake (but I think my meaning was obvious....but yeah ok, my mistake).
*Edit* Upon re-reading, I guess it is not as obvious as I thought. But again, yes, that is what I meant. Thanks.

Yeah, upon further review, it was not as obvious as I thought. But yeah, I did mean to put a "West" in there.
We held that distinction for a while too. I dont think it happened again until the modern LSU and Bama rivalry for Western domination got started a few years back.

Dayum, REB! You can't even get any of your fellow Rebs to upvote your arse after that ridiculous statement. Sweet!

At least in 03 they ended up winning the west

See, this right here is what I love about people who go running off at the mouth before checking their facts.
ALABAMA was the team with over 500 yards of offense. They outgained Ole Miss 503 to 433 and Ole Miss had a 20 point lead once for 2:24 of game time.

Eli falling down was awesome and actually somewhat special for me. I was 9 years old and it was my first road game experience I can remember it like it was yesterday. frick getting old.

And what I would give to be like 10 years old again. These real people problems are a bitch.

You don't know what real people problems are yet

Ole Miss had 433 yards of offense. Alabama had 500 yards.
And of those 433 yards, 140 of those came on two plays - both of them very flukish in nature. If those two plays turn out differently, Ole Miss finishes with less than 300 yards of offense.

One of the better LSU posters, unless TSUN is mentioned; I'd probably grind my axe if I was an LSU fan in GT, though.
