The only thing holding us back from more of the research dollars is competing for them. SEC schools are growing rapidly and our academics are good and getting better. It's time to take the next step.
I know Auburn and Miss State are R2, who is the other one? Wait, is it Alabama?

Yup. Most of the research performed by the UA system is as UAB (R1) since the UA School of Medicine is now based on their campus.
