UF had some really interesting backgrounds/names for its football team in the mid 1960s...Jack Card LB was one of them...all 5'5" of him...but hit like he was 6'3" 230.

Alan Poe received a few passes from Spurrier as a p/t RB from Tampa Robinson High. His name of course came from the author....he was about 5'8" maybe on a good day....had a great game against Vandy in 1966 thew only time Spurrier faced them as a UF QB....we won 13-0 up there. And no I am not looking any of this up....its all memory folks.

Another name long faded is Jack Harper # 33 who was All SEC and was junior when Spurrier was soph...had some great games and helped beat UGA in 1965. I had the pleasure of befriending him and he was unique to say the least...he owned a well known marina in Boca Grande and also started a boat building business building catamaran fishing boats. He tried showing him diagrams of his boat designs but I was lost after 1 minute.

Wade Entzminger(sp) was an OL on 1961 squad and he was 185 lbs soaking wet....but a tough dude...should have been on defense. I got to know him when he was my landlord at property he owned on the beach many years ago.
