And that's because they didn't want all the high school kids. This way, if they are eligible for the draft and the NBA doesn't want to pick them then they don't and they head off to school. The truly special ones will get picked, the borderline ones will go to college where they should be.

It's much better for the college game, and it still gives the NBA what they were looking for.

Yep. They figured out how to turn the NCAA into their own farm system. Instead they need to make the D league attractive. They have nothing to gain by changing the system they think, but I'd argue interest in the NBA would grow again if players stayed. I know mine would. I don't even care about the Kentucky guys other than it makes UK look good when they succeed so our recruiting is easy.
