Coker, really? You mean the guy with the best coach in football, 4 straight #1 classes by his side, the #3 scoring D and #1 run D, a Heisman winning RB behind him, a very good OL and one of the league's better WRs....you're really going to compare what he did compared to murray? GTFO dude.

Alright, bad example. But you have guys like Cam Newton and Aaron Rogers (I realize rogers isn't SEC) who people say can "will" their team to victory despite overwhelming odds. I just don't see that in a guy like Murray. Don't get me wrong, he's the SEC yard leader, he won a lot of games, and he was tough as nails. But he was also behind a very good line, had a rotation of elite backs, a highly touted defense...

yeah, to fit into whatever narrative people want to make at the time. I went into detail and provided background on murray's record against ranked teams his first 2 seasons. If you only want to look at the W/L without actually looking at murray's direct impact on the game, that's on you just don't ignore it when it's actually relevant to the discussion

Okay fine I was mistaken. He beat a bunch of ranked teams (although 3 of the teams in your post ended the season unranked). I guess my gripe is he never won anything of note. I fee like elite QBs find a way to do that. 5 yards from a championship doesn't do it for me.

So brad johnson > dan marino, IYO. Got it.

Nope. But you can't deny hardware has an effect on perception of success. He tried his best and put up some damn good numbers over a 4 year career. but he never led his team to anything more than a couple division titles.

(I realize to find UT's last 2 division titles you have to go back to 2004, this isn't a UT argument though)
