Ray Tanner, South Carolina athletics director and former head baseball coach, is the first Gamecock to be inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Tanner served as collegiate head coach of South Carolina for 16 years and is a three-time National Coach of the Year and three-time SEC Coach of the Year. He led the Gamecocks to two NCAA Division I Baseball Championships.

The ABCA Diamond Hall of Fame banquet was held in Nashville on Friday.

The Hall of Fame began in 1966 and is the highest honor awarded by the association.
