(even though they technically didn't win the championship) the most extreme example of this is Auburn 2013. They had TWO 1-in-a million plays go their way, but it doesn't make their status as nat'l runners-up any less legitimate. They were fluky plays, but sometimes those just happen.

Mississippi State should have beat them that year. We were right there and blew it. In fact, Auburn's 2010 NT we really should have beat them too. Lost 17-14 and I dare say many gave Cam Newton a game like we did that year. But that's the difference in this conference winning or losing and going to a NT.
