Florida QB John Reeves threw 9 interceptions against Auburn in 1969. He is also the father of Layla Kiffin.

Florida went 9-1-1 in '69 and beat Tennessee in the Gator Bowl. Nothing obscure or interesting there, until you consider that UF prez O'Connell cut a secret deal in August for UT head coach Doug Dickey to take over as the UF coach after the season. UF coach Ray Graves was made AD.

Reeves next 2 years were not as great as his '69 season but he did break the all time NCAA passing record for most yards during his last game vs Miami. The game has become infamous for the "Florida Flop" where UF let Miami score to get the ball back after the game had been decided.

Although the connections between UT and UF were already there (Graves et al and really a whole lot of UT guys who were responsible or partially responsible for getting UF up and running as a program but we didn't play that much against each other), I think the first seeds of the rivalry were sown with that move. They'd be reaped later but that was the first time fans were given reason to hate UF.
