So that's what it is going to be? If he leaves, the narrative will be that he was going to get fired anyway? Is there any rumors that he is out at LSU?

Les doesn't fire. He tells them to look around.

So in your opinion, did he tell Chief to start looking around?

Les has never fired anyone. He has just told them to find another job. This is not an "auburn stole our DC" situation.

I know you're still new to the SEC, but Les never fires assistants. He tells them to find new jobs and let's them "leave on their own."

Les probably told Steele to look for another job instead of firing him.

I'm not sure you guys really understand this whole "firing" concept. If the big boss man tells someone "You need to look around for another job"... they're getting fired.

Just sayin'.
