So what happened? Did we need late inning heroics?

Bing cut it to 4-2 against Simonds, and then Vinson and Ecker shut them down over the last 3 & 2/3's. We stranded ca 1,000 runners, which caused some level of discomfort in my sphincter area. But we had a couple of Coors Light drinkers contributing positive waves, which carried the day.

No late inning heroics needed. A&M led throughout, just never could put Binghampton away, despite multiple opportunities. A&M left a lot of runners on base. I recall at least two innings where they left the bases loaded. Here's the line:

Moroney continued his hot hitting, going 3-3 with a homer and 2 RBI. Simonds pitched well, allowing only 4 hits and 1 earned run over 5 1/3. Vinson and Ecker locked things down after that, closing the door to seal the win.
Things got chippy late as Barash called time during an at bat. Their pitcher took exception and a jawing match ensued. Barash took a couple steps towards the mound and not so nicely told the pitch to shut up, just as the ump stepped in front of him. Barash responded by nailing a solid single to left. From what I could see on tv, there wasn't much to it, just a lot of verbal sparring and subsequent fist pumping, but it really got the crowd into it.
