Brandon McIlwain, Jamarcus King, Bryan Edwards, and CJ Freeman!

I feel our biggest priorities right now would have to be to pick up some solid WRs to improve on the pass (while also coaching the ones we have to try and improve their game) and to recruit hard for some good Corners and Safeties to improve with defending against the pass. Those are two big goals I would have for this team for now. We seem to be good on QBs, especially with McIlwain coming in next season. The RB situation could be solved with David Williams, Freeman coming in next season, or possibly Nunez some of the time if he doesn't land the starting QB job. I'm pretty sure Wilds is gone and I'm not 100% on Carson.

Recruiting looks really solid right now. We got some good ones coming in and hopefully we'll hear of some more soon!

Wilds is gone due to graduation. I'm excited about this class, but don't count Dowdle out if we land him. He'll be special wherever he goes.

He reminds me of Pharoh out there. Pharoh absolutely dominated the Shrine Bowl years ago, he was the best football player on the field that year for either team.

NC's Shrine Bowl offense was loaded this year, but Dowdle still shined. Dowdle had
3 carries, 19 yds, 1 TD
5 Receptions, 48 yds, 1 TD

SPARTANBURG - The South Carolina Sandlappers fell behind early but made it a game late before ultimately falling 54-39 to the North Carolina Tar Heels in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. Several Gamecocks commitments and targets were in the game and some produced standout performances.

Virginia Tech wide receiver commitment Samuel Denmark: A starter for the Sandlappers, Denmark caught three passes for 50 yards in the game. He had a long reception of 33 yards.

South Carolina cornerback commitment [b]Chris Smith: A starting cornerback for South Carolina, Smith was rarely challenged, especially early in the game. He said after the game that he still plans to enroll early at South Carolina and has spoken recently with new defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson.

Uncommitted quarterback Austin Scott: The backup quarterback for the Sandlappers, Scott was 11-for-20 for 119 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Colorado State quarterback commitment Collin Hill: The coaching staff has inquired about Hill and he had a good day passing the football for the Sandlappers. Hill was 15-for-28 for 192 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.

Uncommitted three-star wide receiver Larry Collins: The Gamecocks are keeping an eye on Collins, who was a starting wide receiver for the Sandlappers. He caught four passes for 55 yards and a touchdown in the corner of the end zone.

Louisville linebacker commitment TJ Brunson: Still a Louisville commitment but still considering the Gamecocks, Brunson had a game-high 13 tackles, with seven of them being solo. He had a quarterback sack and totaled 1.5 tackles for a loss. He was named the Defensive MVP for the Sandlappers.

Clemson running back commitment Tavien Feaster: Seeming still rock solid to the Tigers, Feaster had 14 carries for 55 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 3.9 yards per carry and lost a fumble. South Carolina running backs coach Bobby Bentley has reached out to Feaster and the staff will continue to go after him until he signs with the Tigers.

Uncommitted four-star offensive lineman John Simpson: An uncommitted four-star prospect, Simpson started at left tackle for the Sandlappers squad and played most of the snaps in the game. He typically plays guard at the high school level. He was part of a South Carolina offensive line that didn’t allow any quarterback sacks.

Uncommitted wide receiver Chavis Dawkins: The star for the Sandlappers’ offense, Dawkins caught six passes for 62 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Dawkins is hearing from South Carolina and says he’s going to visit officially on January 15, but he has yet to receive an offer.

Uncommitted four-star running back Rico Dowdle: One of the most recent South Carolina offers, Dowdle started at wide receiver for the Tar Heels’ squad. He also saw time at running back where he rushed three times for 19 yards and a touchdown. At wide receiver, he caught five passes for 48 yards and a score. Dowdle has set an official visit for South Carolina on January 22.

South Carolina offensive line commitment Pete Leota: A current Gamecocks commit, Leota was the second-team right guard for the North Carolina squad. Leota said after the game that he will take some official visits, but he also said that he has been working Dowdle hard to get him to South Carolina.

I agree all the way with Dowdle, I didn't mention him only because he is currently uncommitted to a school as of right now. All the names I mentioned above are recent commitments.

Boom has a reputation for being a strong closer. Hopefully he does well from 4 January through 4 February when it really matters. We need to finish in the Top 25 with this class. Top 20 would be a major major win for us given the late start ... yet it is very possible.

I would be beyond stoked. We need to get back to work as soon as possible if we still want to compete.
