2003:
Dustin Long and Reggie McNeal traded starts, with Long starting 5 and McNeal starting 7 games respectively...even to the point that Long and McNeal were subbed for each other in consecutive plays in the t.u. game. They were the only two quarterbacks on the roster with Jason Carter having moved to "A".
After the 2003 season, Long, entering his final year, elected to go to Sam Houston State for the 2004 season, leaving McNeal and true freshman Stephen McGee as the only scholarship quarterbacks. Walk-on Ty Branyan was McNeal's backup and only saw playing time when McNeal got hurt during the Oklahoma game in the 3rd Quarter.
So congratulations, Kevin Sumlin...even though your record is far better, YOU JUST BECAME FRAN
