Planning a bachelor party for one of my best friends in late April, and we are going down to Charleston to drink, play golf, and do some deep sea fishing. We have a hook up at Patriot's Point, so we will probably play there, but I am looking for the best deep sea fishing charter down there. I have been out on the Teaser 2 out of Shem Creek a few times, and they aren't bad, but I was just wondering if anyone else had an awesome experience with someone else. We booked a house on the IOP for Thurs-Sunday, April 21-24.

Not sure if you're a member of The Big Spur but if you are...there's a joke I was tempted to say but it may not make sense

Were you looking for a half day or full day deep sea fishing excursion and how many people?

Full Pull is solid, but you have to book them well in advance b/c they cast off from several east coast locations (Charleston is one of them.)

Also, I have a buddy who's very fond of Jabez Charters. They just did a total boat overhaul this winter, new cabin, motors, electronics, etc....

Full day for sure (12 hr), and there will be 6-8 of us. Looks like the prices for all three are comparable.

I had one great experience ton the Teaser 2... Amber Jacks, Mahi, Cobia, etc.

And then one bad where we didn't catch a damn thing trolling, but caught a few Red and Vermillion Snapper when we stopped to bottom fish.

SO much of it all is the season. All these charter guys down there are pro's. The ones who have been around the longest are usually the best, I think that's why my buddy really likes Jabez and Capt Ben. You are going in a GREAT week/time of the year though, you're going to catch fish when you get out there. Some boats cap at 6 people though, so you're going to need to get a confirmed roster.

If something falls through and you guys are just looking to go inshore, let me know and I have a great guy for that. We use him as 1st mate for my buddy's boat all the time, when we go off shore, but he has an inshore business and he does really well with that too.

I want to say I went in May one year, and I know the second time was in mid-August, because it was the weekend before school started back at USC.

I appreciate the info. I am going to give Jabez a call.

Good time for Mahi off shore right now.

I've been killing the reds up in the creeks and out by the jetties.

If you play The Country Club of South Carolina, which is one of my favorite courses, ... wait, I'll call Fred right now for you and see if he knows how to get in touch with Russell Glover ... who I think may be retired, but lemme call Fred real quick and track him down because English Glover is the way to go. We've always caught fish with him.

:::::: long pause :::::::

Yep, here you go ...

ETA: Should read "Englis Glover not English Glover" ... damn autocorrect.

BTW, which house did you book? I heard my old house is now a rental home is the reason I ask. Did you book the Waterway side on the golf course or the Ocean Drive side on the beach ... or back in Wild Dunes? You probably booked through Island Reality?

I thought the Country Club of SC was in Quinby/Florence? Friend of mine is the assistant pro there.

And the house we booked is a family friend's of one of the groomsmen. They rent it out all year except for the month of June. Last name is Green, but not sure of the first. From Charlotte.

I know Fred and Ty ... but Russell Glover's son, Englis, is the Englis Glover that does the "Reelin' Up The Coast" TV show LINK. That's what I was trying to relay. Englis runs a heckuva Charter Service and they run their rigs from North Myrtle to Fripp Island and Hilton Head. Very reasonably priced, they always catch fish, they put on a good charter for the money, they really do.

Everyone calls him Captain E.

I appreciate the info. Country Club of SC is one I want to play. The pro, Tyler Young, is originally from my home town. His cousin and I played golf together in high school.

To know who I am ... next time y'all are visiting with Boo (George Rogers) ask him about the time he and I were playing in this tournament out at the Country Club of SC and we got to number 12 I think it is (but I am pretty liquored-up at the moment) dogleg left, over a creek on the approach, elevated green ... and he had been losing balls all day and I finally told him, "I'm not giving you another one of my balls," ... and long story short, he had to skip that hole and take a snowman because he hit three of my balls into the water.

It's probably my favorite course in the state. Love that course. Play there a minimum of six or seven times a year.
