Your wife is a lawyer and you sell real estate. I'm talking about industry that can support a lot of people coming back and getting jobs. A town can only have so many lawyers or real estate agents. A very small percentage return to MS college towns to work. A lot retire there, but not many live there through the working years of life.

Why would you down play factories of any type? You don't get many quality jobs without lower paying ones to support them. They present a need for more doctors, engineers, upper management, etc... Which then means you need more real estate agents to sell them homes and lawyers to handle their estates. Mississippi needs more good lower class jobs, you don't grow the middle and upper class without that foundation.

That doesn't mean they have to be in Oxford or Starkville. My point is just that North MS as a whole needs more industry.

This is relevant because it's how you improve a town, and in this case a region. Fun college towns aren't great because of the students alone. Our schools have like 20k, give or take, on campus. Even if they doubled to 40k students, that isn't enough to need a ton of good bars and venues. You need quality jobs in the extended area to support attractions in the town.
