You DO know that South Carolina won 11 games three years in a row, right? It's not like we were playing the Georgia School for the Bind.

I suppose they did. Most of my memory cells are, uh, occupied. I suppose I could dig up at least 3 other years in which SC did its November fold. Anyway, the whole ranked opponent argument is a minefield. Final season rankings are telling. polls before mid season are bullshite. Polls that have two Mississippi team in the top 3 come to mind.

What is irrefutable is dawgs always find a way to lay an egg when they have a chance to be great. 2002, 2007, 2008.........after 2008 I became a casual fan and stopped worshipping teenagers that were going to underachieve anyway and spent more time killing furry animals. This year I left my dawg jersey in a sports bar trash can at halftime of Bama game and swore them off until Coach Valium got fired. Now I can buy a new one. shite gets expensive. I grilled jerseys and hats In the 1990s when Donut was everybody's bitch and tossed a jersey in the fireplace when Richt or Bobo was too damn stupid to spike the ball because they were unable to grasp that they might actually accomplish something.

I will never understand the tolerance of underachievement by the majority of GA fans.

Do you understand that you burning jerseys had nothing to do with Richt getting fired?

Most of this mentality will go the wayside when/if UGA starts winning championships. The bandwagoners will drown out all the noise.

People mentally prepare for the let downs by holding UGA in such high regard for "doing it the Georgia way" so they can have their moral victory and look down their nose at programs like FSU and Bama.

On top of that, I got lectured yesterday by someone who doesn't even watch UGA football about how us letting Richt go was unbelievable and unacceptable. This was all based on the shared Christian values of Richt and said person.

just out of curious, how do you measure this tolerance? None of us posters have ANY say whatsoever in hiring or firing. A ned flanders, i love life kinda guy might be happy with 7-5 every year. Someone else may be pissed if we don't go 15-0 every year. Neither one has anything to do with our achievements or our future.

Ehhhh.

-2002 is undeniable. We lost to a worse team. But Miami and OSU both went undefeated, and entering the UF game we were behind both. A win over a pedestrian UF team likely wouldn't have jumped us over OSU.
-2007 we lost to 2 mediocre teams, but so did LSU. The only difference is 1 of their shitty losses came to an east team (a team we beat btw) so they got to play for the SEC. In addition, they were 7th heading into CCG weekend and ended the day 2nd due to what can only be described as a few minor miracles. They didn't do any better than we did that year, they just got a better break.
-2008 is the one that I will always refute because people only look at us. Our fans, as they often do, get caught up in media hype (preseason #1!!!!) and not look at the big picture. No reason to lose to tech, period. That's unforgiveable. But Bama was rolling under saban and went 12-0 in the regular season. UF was rolling under meyer/tebow and went 11- regular season. They also beat bama and won the title. Sometimes you lose to a better team. They were simply better.
2012- for some reason people always point to the SC game, but that game didn't affect us one iota in getting to the title game.
