Both the Utah and Oklahoma Sugar Bowls spread between winning 3 BCS National Championships were consolation games for Alabama. The prize they were after was a NC and when that opportunity was lost the *consolation prize* of playing in the Sugar Bowl was ZERO motivation for Alabama.
