The only season for auburn that could be accurately defined as an anomaly is one where we begin highly ranked and actually live up to the ranking. Other than that it's all standard protocol.

OP still makes a valid point. while our destination was somewhat predictable we did, in fact, arrive there in a very unorthodox fashion.

Very true.

Auburn has started in the Top 10 a total of 18 times since 1950. They have finished in the Top 10 the same year they began in the Top 10 a total of 6 times.

Only 3 of those times did they end up ranked higher than where they started.
