Since we added Arky and USC (e), Ole Muss has never been "the football school".
Coincidentally, they've also never been the basketball school, or baseball school.
They ARE the school for plastic chandeliers and catfish sushi though -- so they have that going for them.

Ummmmm. I think in modern times Mississippi State is seen as way more of a successful program in football Than OM
