We now have a QB starting in the worst offense in the NFL and in the NCAA.

I have a soft spot for Gabbert. You try following a guy like Chase Daniel and going to a black hole that is the Jags.
Also hate Kapernick...so I doubly hope he does well.

As much as I dislike Gabbert, I've heard hes much better now that they slowed down his mechanics and release. I honestly cant decide if I want him to do good or not.

The bad part is that he is going to again play behind one of the worst lines in the NFL...first with the Jaguars and now with the 49'ers. Tough to succeed when you don't have any help (ask Luck and Mauk).

Gotta say, those are good points.
I think staying another year would have done him good. Could have better prepared him, more maturity, experience.
But how do you say no to all those millions when it was unlikely he'd gotten more money by staying another year?

You get it. I think every fan knew he needed another year, but you can't turn down that money. Especially when the possibility of injury was so high. I remember Blaine Gabbert gritting it out and playing on that ankle after the tPOS Suh deliberately rolled it. He graded out high, and had guaranteed money - which might not have been there the next year. I don't blame him for leaving when he did. I hoped he could get drafted by a team where he could learn for a year or three behind an experienced starter. But then he got into maybe the worst possible situation at Jacksonville.
I hope he does well in San Francisco. Best of luck to him.

Now that he's had some time to actually develop he could turn out to be a serviceable to good starting QB
