Can you imagine the melt if the Rant was around in the 90s

when Peyton committed to Tennessee? The months beforehand we would've all been talking lots of shite on the Recruiting Board then when he commits to UT, anarchy.

I'm watching The Book of Manning again and just can't imagine what it was like when Peyton did that.

OT thread is on Page 2

The melt would have been epic. I would have pron bombed.

Was the site around when Saban left LSU for the Dolphins in 2004? Was it just TD when Saban arrived in Alabama in 2007? Those would have been great times to witness epic melts.

Most of the Ole Miss posters would have been decimated. The UT posters would have suffered several high profile losses. Glorious melt. The Rant would have to go through a rebuilding year.

I was around when Peyton did that and it was not totally unexpected. Ole Miss was getting hit with the 2nd worst sanctions ever. His older brother could no longer play. I mean, the writing was on the wall. Still, yes the melt would have been epic but I think the sanctions would have been the bigger story at that time.

I would have at least saved a shite load of money on that damn 1-900 number where Chuck would speak in super slow mo....cause he charged by the minute.

I do realize that MOST of you don't have a clue to what I am referring to.

SECrant wasn't. In 2004 it was Tiger Rant, OT, political, more sports, help and that was about it. When Saban left it was a different vibe to the boards. It was more like thanks for the NC and we understand or the rantards pissed off that he lied about not going and were happy to see him leave.

People weren't expecting Peyton to go to ole miss. It was also different with recruiting. You got little info and it was usually from a school rag or newspaper. Now, recruiting sites/services it's a monster.

I don't recall too many ole miss fans being angered/melted. Maybe a little disappointed but I can't imagine what it would be like today if he did it in a day with message boards. 1998 is when I first started getting online and would read a few tidbits here and there about recruiting. By 2000, it was really taking off.

Speaking of Book of Manning, did cooper come in and catch a pass in a game against Tulane in '92? I swear I vaguely remember that but the show made it sound like he never played a snap in a game.

Dropping the Rant history lesson bomb.

Researching the Cooper question...

I can't find anything that says he played at all in 1992...
