When you win on the field, that trumps any argument.
But in reality, teams improve week to week, players get hurt, and teams sometimes play up to their ability on a given day and on a given day they don't.
So for purposes of who DESERVES to be considered better, Ole Miss must be given that status. If they played today, it may be very different. It depends on what you're asking when you say are they "better than Bama".

But it doesn't, as we have seen time and time again. Upsets happen, better teams lose to worse teams, and teams that lose to an opponent later outrank them based on the whole resume. In CFB, the head to head is a part of being "better", not the whole thing.
This is why I think there should be no rankings. Conference champs should playoff for the belt. End of story.
