THE GAME: The No. 8/8 University of Alabama football team returns home for its annual rivalry game commonly referred to as the “Third Saturday in October” with the Tennessee Volunteers. The game is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on CBS with Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson and Allie LaForce calling the action. Eli Gold and Phil Savage will handle the radio call on the Crimson Tide Sports Network, with Chris Stewart serving as the sideline reporter.
SERIES HISTORY: Alabama and Tennessee will meet for the 98th time in a series that the Crimson Tide leads, 52-37-8. The rivalry dates back to the 1901 season, when the two teams first met in Birmingham and finished in a 6-6 tie. The Crimson Tide has won the last eight meetings and seeks its ninth straight series win for the first time since an 11-game winning streak from 1971-81. Last season, Alabama left Knoxville with a 34-20 victory in the most recent matchup between the two teams. The Tide and Vols have met every year since 1928, with the exception of the 1943 season when neither school fielded a football team due to World War II.
SABAN PASSES BRYANT FOR MOST ROAD WINS VS. TOP-10: With Alabama’s 41-23 win over Texas A&M in College Station, head coach Nick Saban earned his sixth victory while at UA against a top-10 team on the road, passing Paul “Bear” Bryant for the most road wins versus at a top-10 opponent in Alabama history. The victory improved Saban to 6-1 while at Alabama.
3-and-OUT: The Alabama defense has totaled 36 three-and-outs in the past four games (9.0 per game) to move the Crimson Tide into first place nationally at 6.86 per game. The Tide has forced a three-and-out on 48-of-109 drives this season (44.0 percent), including 36-of-65 in the past four games (55.4 percent).
GETTING TO THE QUARTERBACK: Alabama’s front seven has made their presence known to the opposing quarterback on a regular basis in 2015. The Crimson Tide rank 15th nationally and second in the SEC in sacks with 3.14 per game (22 in seven games). The 3.14 sacks per game is higher than any Alabama team during the Saban era and the 22 sacks matches the season total from 2013. The Tide has 17 sacks in the last four games (4.25 per game)
SABAN VS. THE VOLS: Alabama head coach Nick Saban has compiled a 10-1 (.909) career record against Tennessee. Most recently, he came away with a 34-20 win in Knoxville to close out the month of October. Saban is one of eight Alabama coaches to win his first game against Tennessee, joining W.B. Blount (1903), Jack Leavenworth (1905), J.W.H. Pollard (1906), D.V. Graves (1912), Red Drew (1947), Bill Curry (1987) and Gene Stallings (1990).
ALABAMA-TENNESSEE TV RESULTS: The 2015 game marks the 38th televised game in series history. The Alabama-Tennessee game has been televised every year since 1989. The Crimson Tide owns a 22-13-2 record over the Volunteers in televised games.

Vols are second in the NCAA in kickoff return average (37.3).
The Vols are one of seven teams with a kickoff and punt return for touchdown this season.
Tennessee is seeking its first win over a Top 10 opponent since 2006 when it defeated No. 10 Georgia, 51-33, in Athens.

Against Florida (9/26), Dobbs became the first FBS player since Tulsa’s James Kilian in 2003 to lead his team in passing, rushing, and receiving in a single game. He logged 277 yards of total offense at The Swamp, including 136 rushing yards and a 58-yard touchdown reception

Did you change the series record after you copied that or does the UA website have it wrong?
Roll tide.com had it correct earlier this week, so I'm thinking the former.

The bomb he caught against UF showcased his speed and receiving skills. If we didn't need him so bad at QB, he'd be one helluva receiver. Too bad he can't throw to himself.

It should be interesting to see his play against our front. Will he get happy feet or stay in the pocket?

You're just going through the motions with that post, even Updykes having a difficult time defending that cupcake.

Dobbs isn't a Manziel type who scrambles out at the first sign of pressure. He's a pocket passer who happens to run the ball very well. If anything he's been prone to stay in the pocket too much this year at times - a good example of that was against Ark (he just didn't run that game and the offense never got into rhythm). We run the zone option so most of his runs are by design.
That said, we have a better chance when he runs. It helps him get into the rhythm of the game and helps his passing -- not just with keeping the defense honest but he's more in sync with the WRs when he's had a few runs.

Here is a fun fact, Tennessee is well aware of their open admittance to shitty players.

We ain't skeert of nobody!
Seriously, I wonder if anyone else in the SEC has faced that kind of stiff opposition in their cross conference schedule?
YOU HEAR THAT LSU? PISS ON YOUR "WE HAVE TO PLAY FLORIDA" WHINE!
You don't hear the Vols crying over scheduling.

When was the last time a ranked Alabama team lost to an
unranked Tenn. team i'm thinking the early 80's.

Bama hasn't lost to any unranked team for 57 games straight, 2007 Auburn was the last.
