We won in 2009 with not as good a defense

Um...what?

really only Julio as a notable receiver

None of our receivers right now are as good as 2009 Julio Jones.

We just ran the ball, ran the ball and didn't need to score 40+ points a game.

We also came close to losing multiple games because we couldn't score. We had a 3 game SEC stretch where we scored 52 points: 2 Mark Ingram touchdowns, a Mark Barron pick six, and 11 Leigh Tiffin FGs. If we were to do that in any three conference game stretch this year we would go 0-3 or 1-2. It's only been 6 years, but this is a different era of football.

We won that year with defense, but you have to take into account the offenses we are using is the point. If you put this years defense on the 2009 offense, then our stats are going to be even better than they were in 2009.

Right now, we have the #1 pass defense in the country according to the S&P while also having the #3 rushing defense.

We are giving up more points than 2009 because we are asking the defense to do way more now than we did in 2009.

Last year the defense was on the field for more than 2 extra games worth of plays due to the "high powered offense" of Lane Kiffin.
