we joke about it, but the truth is if any of those witnesses had had a conceal and carry they could have popped that guy and maybe saved the joggers life and saved the state decades worth of money caring for this head case.

Maybe but that doesn't help the jogger who gets hacked by a very strong young man.

Yeah, but then you're carrying a fricking gun while working out. I'd rather try and not live in a world where I have to do that. If I have to carry my pistol while jogging I'd rather just get the machete. At that point, I'd rather not live here anymore.

You're right, what we need is random passerbys trying to be heros with guns they probably aren't all that accurate with. Yup. Especially in a situation like this, where the suspect is right next to the victim attacking him with a machete. I can't see anything going wrong with that situation.
