Don't feel sorry for him.
My brother was part of a D-1 football program and he got all the supplements that were okay by the NCAA for free, every day, as much as he wanted. Whole freaking cup-full of pills every day. And he said they got STERN talking-tos about NEVER taking anything at all that wasn't given to them by the training staff.
Not only do these guys not need to go buy anything of their own, they're explained the consequences of doing so, again and again, in no uncertain terms.
This guy wanted a banned edge, however small. I guarantee he was educated on why you shouldn't do this exact thing. I also guarantee that anything that's still allowed by the NCAA was his for the asking, free.
