Several reasons this year

-They lost their three best players on defense by FAR last year, and damn sure didn't have the depth to be as good again. I mean seriously, when was the last time Arkansas's defense was considered good prior to 2014?

-They lost their #1 in their 1-2 punch at RB. This was debilitating for their offense. That is how they were built the past two years. With Allen becoming more of a game manager last year, this was perfect for him. If they had played in the East or pretty much any other conference last year, they win 10-11 games (bowl included). That team was a cheaper version of what Alabama produced with Nick Saban prior to Lane Kiffin. A dominant 1-2 punch at RB with a great OL, a mediocre QB that made just enough throws and limited mistakes, and a stifling defense that was top 10 in rush defense and scoring defense (they are the two most required things for a great defense).

-Injuries are a b***h. I mean seriously! They lost their top 3 WRs one after another, and for a team that has to rely on the passing game a lot now because Williams is out, that is horrible. Allen went from being just the manager last year, to now, the man that HAS TO win games for them. Allen is not clutch at ALL. which brings me to my next point.

-Allen can not win games for y'all. He is looking better, and had he had all of his weapons at his disposal, it would have looked like the old Petrino teams up in this b***h! Thing is, Allen has never had to be clutch, and now in his final year, he still doesn't have it. It took Aaron Murray til his final year before he could shred that stigma, and even still, UGA wasn't better because he lost his top two RBs for stretches of the year, plus their awful defensive performances in some games.

IMO, it's not that Bielema wanted to change his run heavy philosophy, it's that, he had no other choice. Senior Williams out, Walker out and wasn't really looking good prior, the freshman Williams wasn't that impressive until playing against TAMU, and Marshall was off the team prior to the season starting. That makes you have to change the way you do things. Look at Wisconsin. A mainstay in the top 15 rushing offenses, but rank 55th now. That's like blasphemy at that school. Stave has to be a big part of that offense right now, and he is doing it to the tune of 66% 207 ypg and 1.7 TDs per game. Way better than he had ever done previously. Of course he's played nobody outside of Bama, but he also doesn't play the whole game. As a team, they are averaging 220 ypg passing. They haven't averaged over 200 ypg passing since Russell Wilson in 2011.

Third string running back was lost in the spring with ACL. Basicly 4-5 backs out. We will win some games tho. A&M got lucky last week just like last year.
