When Chad Kelly rolled out nearing the line of scrimmage, he hit the 73-yard pop-pass for a touchdown. The officials immediately ruled that Kelly had crossed the line of scrimmage before he let go of the football, but the call was reversed, thus giving the Rebels a critical touchdown. Saban confirmed Wednesday that Alabama sent the replay into the league’s office for clarification on the play and lineman who appeared downfield, according to CBS Sports, which is not a reviewable call under the current rule.

Exact same thing happened in LSU - Auburn Game. Miles discussed it on the weekly SEC Coaches Teleconference call today. Rule is not consistent with every other rule he says in Football where you touch it its over (i.e. goaline, sideline, etc). Here the LOS is the LOS except when the QB is judged to have crossed and then it is 1.5 yds upfield now. You cant defend that. Same thing about lineman upfield - Auburn's line was five yards upfield but since penalty was not called it was not reviewable.

As it turned out that play did not make any difference to the outcome of the game except final stats...
