You stand with your hand over your heart and sing songs to a piece of cloth. Worse, you demand that others do it. Or else you'll get in their face.
Because you're a true-believer. One of the righteous. And you hold those that don't believe or who don't respect your ceremonies in contempt as if they are wicked.
Sure sounds like you're worshipping a "god" to me.

Thank you. I served in OEF and OIF and no matter your belief in the current administration. Respect for the flag and anthem is paramount.
