Benedict Arnold where would we rank him if not for the treason?

Today is when he and his wife committed treason.

Until then he was considered a hero due to leading his men and staying to fight even though wounded.

Was he a profiteer? Most likely but was acquitted of the charges. He also was accused of using US supplies to further enhance his wealth.

I would have posted on Poli Board but it would have turned into Anti Haliburton, Bush, Obama, Clinton fight most likely.

He would've made a hell of a politician today.

If he hadn't committed treason, he'd have been one of our biggest revolutionary war heroes.

I still have a tad of sympathy for him. It isn't like he's the only middle aged man to lose it all because he couldn't resist the allure of a young female.

He went with the side he thought would win. He chose wrong. I don't rank him anywhere among anyone.

If Benedict dies at Saratoga, he's a national hero. Westpoint wouldn't be Westpoint, it'd be Fort Arnold.

Just goes to show that you either die a hero or you live long enough to become the villain.

Without Benedecit Arnold we might not have had a victory at the Battle of Saratoga. Without the Battle of Saratoga, the French might have never given us the assistance we needed to win the war. And Halliburton has two "l's".

Don't really see too big of a difference between Arnold and say Robert E Lee, if anything Arnold seems more sympathetic.
