You don't know that

The more logical line of thought is something will be done if Bert doesn't start winning. Kinda like what was done with Tom Collen. But you can keep living in fantasy land where nothing is done if Bert doesn't keep improving.

What AD is going to want to come to Arkansas to get thrown out 2 years after being AD of the year?

Occam's Razor isn't always right. He'll stay here until his buyout goes down to 7 mil unless long is canned. It's hard to put future effects on a resume. If long cans BB he has to stay until the ship is righted. If long doesn't he is still free to leave bc the money adds up. he wont be able to advance to another program or industry until the balance sheets check out. I don't think he's willing to gamble his career on another football coach until the money makes sense.

I understand the probable losses if BB sucks it up the rest of the year and next year, but a new coach having success isn't guaranteed.

It's something that has to be waited out money wise, like it or not. If Arkansas had just won a NC 2 years ago it could be understandable, but there isn't momentum in the football program to risk trying a new coach next year.

A new contract with another failed coach would set Arkansas back to tennessee levels of money.

eta: i fully support firing bielema and staff, I just don't think Long will want to do it until the buyout goes down.
