I don't think he got "beat out". They both played last year... He just played more. Neither one had great stats last year. I have a feeling he would have had a shot this year as well. They guy who "beat him out " played early last season and wasn't all that good either... If he is all of a sudden better, one has to think why he is putting up better number. Did he improve or is it the whole team improving or both?
It's possible Lambert had mentioned transferring since he knew he would be graduating, and the coaching staff made the change. Not likely, but who knows?

I know Lambert got more snaps than the other guy last year, but the other guy had plenty of chances to win the spot during the season and did not. It's not like a Freshman came in and unseated him during spring ball.
