I think what he's saying is that a team that has been 9th or 10th in the league, for about a decade now, losing shouldn't really impact the national perception of the SEC.

Well then he should say the top half of the SEC is still king. I suspect it wouldn't matter if it were Alabama. If they lost on their home field he'd say the same thing.
