Playing in a lightning storm is idiotic.its way more common than people like to think. Hell, we've been averaging about 1 person per year being hit by lightning at work:
Also, you have to deal with the legal consequences. An athletic department doesn't have shite to worry about with fans. The fans are there voluntarily and they can't be directed in that way. Staff on the othe hands must be warned about risk and they must demonstrate they are willing to forgo the risk to free the athletic deparmtent from liability.
