Concerned.

It was a tale of two halves. In the first, Missouri concentrated almost exclusively on the pass and, for the most part, had their way. Lots of playmaking potential on display from Drew Lock to the young wideouts. And aside from the ill-advised Mauk heavo-ho, MM looked in OOC form.

The side-by-side eye comparison with Lock and Mauk was startling. Lock's accuracy and ability to hit a receiver in stride is special. If they can adequately recruit offensive lineman and running backs around Lock, the next few years could be the Golden Age within the Golden Age of Gary Pinkel's coaching career.

Onto the second half... They looked determined to establish the run and failed miserably. As feared, there's no running game behind Hansborough. Witter's truncated given name is appropriate, Ish. What we saw in 2014 remains - he's too small with no power. It's too soon to pass judgement on the other reserves, but with RH graduating this spring the fear extends to 2016.

The offensive line obviously needs work. I won't pretend to know the Xs and Os of it, but to average less than 3.0 YPC against a blood donor is concerning. As were some of the QB pressures allowed with simple DL line stunts.

Defensively they looked outstanding, especially given the youth and inexperience of the defensive line. I don't recall the front four making a sack but they generated tons of pressure, so it was a nice start. It was interesting to see the new wrinkles Barry Odom brought to the defense. They're probably going to need them once the conference schedule commences.

Overall a nice debut. Hopefully they can whip that Arky State arse like USC did next week.
