It's basically out of state applicants that bring down the acceptance rates.

MSU really gets hurt because they just aren't as appealing to out of state students so their numbers skew heavily toward the fact that they basically have to accept every Mississippian with a pulse and a high school diploma.

Ole Miss gets a lot of out of state applicants and has been raising the requirements for out of state students over the years so it pushes that acceptance rate number down even though they still have to accept every Mississippian with a pulse and a diploma.
