i feel like we got half of both there

Fran was terrible (sherman was unlucky, but not terrible) and we "struggled" from 02-06ish, Fran got lucky with McGee for 1.5 years, then 07-09, so i'd say 6 years in the wilderness.

I wouldn't call Sherman unlucky. Blowing 1 second half lead is unlucky. Blowing 5 in a row or whatever it was is the mark of a bad coach.

Perhaps I should have said "unsuccessful" instead of "bad". Because the idea is that after the good coach leaves, you get the truly bad coach who destroys the program, and then it takes at least 1 coach's tenure to build it back up and fix the wounds, but it usually isn't enough to save their job.

I'll edit the rule.
