I did kinda cherry pick. That is what makes it so Frantastic though. We couldn't see the Franness in front of our faces back then, and neither can they.
Today's fun is the fight between those who want Chip Kelly, and those who still remember Texas fans being made at him for cheating in the state. It is like Briles all over again.

The best thing about them hiring Chip Kelly would be watching the cognitive dissonance in action while they perform a 180 degree mental switch from supporting Charlie due to respect for his "core values" and "discipline" and "doing things the right way" to supporting Kelly, who is the King of Street Agents and Lord of Bagmen.
The worst thing about them hiring Chip Kelly would be watching him steal our recruits because he is King of Street Agents and Lord of Bagmen, and then having him actually turn their program around, because he's a damn good college coach.

That's the very problem with Fran-ness. Ask Tennessee fans. When you are face-to-face with a Fran, as a college football fan, you find yourself eating up all the tough talk and kicking players off the team and gimmicks like spreadsheets of analysis and the pit and Night of Champions and the recruiting classes inflated by kids who never make it to campus. I'm sure that people who have lived in dictatorial regimes with a cult of personality and live to see the other side feel the same way about their time "under the spell" of a consciously manipulative leader.
