So the justification for how good a defense is, or may be in the future, is based on a single meaningless bowl game?

No, but it's fair to bring up a game in which the OM defense was completely obliterated by a good team. I don't know how you can't see this.

Ole Miss had arguably the best defense in CFB last year

Not even better than LSU.

and they should be good again in 2015.

no doubt about it. Yalls D should be filthy this year.

Here's a couple stats for y'all: Ole Miss gave up a total 24 touchdowns last year (1st in FBS) and was 1st in scoring defense. OM returns 8 of those 11 starters while arguably upgrading at the corner position with Tony Bridges and Tee Shepard. I'm actually surprised at how dumb some of y'all for laughing at this guy having OM ranked as the 3rd best D going in to the season when they finished 1st in the most important defensive category.

Our defense gave up less points last year than LSU's

so...yeah....our defense was quite literally better than LSU's if you take into consideration the ONLY relevant statistic to gauge a defense. You can pounce on moral victories all you want by bringing up yardage, batted passes on 3rd downs, farts from your nose tackle inside the redzone, etc......but all of those are absolutely irrelevant until they start scoring games based on those stats.

Why not bring up that asskicking LSU got in JHS then?

Your defense gave up more yards & points than Ole Miss' D did against TCU.
