A miss state grad with the same degree and GPA can beat out a UGA grad merely because of their interviewing skills or networking. (A specialized field is the exception). There are way too many new grads that feel entitled that they are special when in fact they are not. "You got your checkmark. Good job."
Bit more to it than that. Certain comapanies that recruit UGA grads probably aren't sending professional recruiters to Miss State.

The lazy ones that dont really have recruiters or actually do recruiting. The only leg-up is more applicants which doesnt nesicarliy equate to a hire

Agreed, although you may be underestimating the broad stroke of job fairs and recruiting. Once again it's the grad students that really matter, undergrads have only proved they are able to learn (unless it is a specialty degree)
